ELBERTON, Ga. — A 15‑year‑old boy turned himself in Wednesday afternoon after the deadly shooting of 17‑year-old Dontavius Marable, an employee at a local McDonald’s restaurant.
According to the Elberton Police Department, the teen suspect – whose name has not been released because of his age – surrendered willingly and is now facing murder charges.

Family members identified Marable as the young worker killed in the incident. He was only 17.
Investigators said that Marable and his alleged shooter knew each other. A verbal argument between the two reportedly erupted shortly before the shooting — a confrontation captured on video that’s been shared widely on social media.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken over the probe into the fatal shooting, examining the events that led to the tragedy. Authorities have indicated additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Officials are urging anyone with more information to come forward. Tips can be directed to the GBI at 1‑800‑597‑8477 or to the Elberton Police Department at 706‑213‑3130.
For now, the community is left grappling with the loss of a teenager whose life ended far too soon — and the unsettling reminder of how quickly conflict can spiral into tragedy.
