Seventeen-year-old Dameon “Baby D” Meyers Jr., a student at Lovejoy High School in Clayton County, was shot and killed while walking back to his car with his younger brother, Makai, after attending a football game. According to police, three masked gunmen confronted the brothers in the parking lot and demanded Dameon empty his pockets — then opened fire.
Makai, just 16, was shaken to the core. He says all three men pointed guns at Dameon before turning their attention to him, pistol-whipping him while his brother stood there. The horrifying moment left him scrambling — not for belongings, but for his brother’s life. He rushed over when Dameon fell, ripped off his shirt, found the gunshot wound, and started CPR. “I tried to do everything I could,” he later said.
