Late on the night of November 11, tragedy struck the tight-knit Lucas Street community when 29-year-old Rajani O’Brien Parris was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking along Four Square Road in St. Philip. Law enforcement has now officially confirmed his identity and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

According to the Barbados Police Service, the collision happened around 11:20 p.m. as a car drove toward St. Patrick’s and hit Parris, who was on foot. First responders raced to the scene, but despite their efforts and a medical doctor being called in, they were unable to revive him. His condition left no signs of life; he was officially pronounced dead at the location, and a relative later arrived to identify him.

Parris, a longtime resident of Lucas Street, was more than just a name on a report. To many in his neighborhood, he was a friend, a son, and a familiar face whose sudden passing has shaken the local community. His death is being mourned deeply, and it has left a void among those who knew him personally.

Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing. As of now, there’s no public information suggesting what led to the collision — whether it was a matter of speeding, poor visibility, or other factors. But the police are making it clear: even the smallest piece of information could help paint a fuller picture of what happened.

In their appeal, law enforcement has asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant details to contact the District ‘C’ Police Station at 416-8200 or 416-8204.

The Barbados Police Service has also acknowledged the profound impact of this loss on the Lucas Street neighborhood. They have expressed condolences to Parris’s family and friends and reiterated their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation.

As the community reels, there’s a bittersweet reminder of how fragile life can be — especially on the roads late at night. Parris’s death underscores not just a personal tragedy, but a collective call for vigilance, safe driving, and compassionate cooperation in times like this.
