A routine evening ride turned into a nightmare for a young girl and her mother in North Philadelphia, and now police are urgently seeking public help to find the man authorities say is behind the violence. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at approximately 7:13 p.m., the 7‑year‑old girl was riding in the backseat of a vehicle traveling on the 3000 block of North Marshall Street when gunfire erupted.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD), the vehicle — driven by her mother — came under fire, and one bullet struck the child in her left arm. The girl was initially taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle, then transferred by ambulance to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where she is listed in stable condition.

Investigators recovered six spent 9 mm shell casings at the scene, consistent with multiple shots being fired into or toward the vehicle. At this stage, authorities have not publicly released a motive, nor have they confirmed whether the vehicle or the child was the intended target.

The suspect has been identified as 30‑year‑old Alfredo Marrero. He is now wanted by Philadelphia police on an active arrest warrant in connection to the shooting. The PPD’s Shooting Investigation Group has asked anyone with information to call 215‑686‑8270 or submit a tip anonymously via the PPD tip line at 215‑686‑TIPS (8477).

Community members say the Marshall Street corridor is typically busy with traffic and neighborhood activity around that time of evening, which has intensified fears among parents and residents. While the investigation remains ongoing, the police urge anyone who may have seen unusual vehicles, individuals fleeing the scene, or heard gunfire around 7 p.m. in the area to come forward. The recovery of six casings suggests this was not a stray shot, officials noted.

The young victim’s family and neighborhood have rallied for calm and support, emphasizing the need for vigilance and community cooperation. Authorities say even anonymous tips can make a significant difference. For now they ask that anyone who recognizes Marrero, spots him, or has knowledge of his whereabouts to contact the PPD immediately. Time is of the essence — every tip brings investigators a step closer to bringing this case to justice and helping the young girl heal.
