Maryland Man Convicted of Murder After Bus Shooting Incident
A 62-year-old man from Maryland, James Richburg, has been found guilty of second-degree murder after a tragic incident on a bus in Baltimore. The court also found him guilty of multiple firearm-related charges, including using a firearm during a crime and possessing a firearm illegally.
The incident occurred on November 30, 2024, when Richburg shot 30-year-old William Womack following a disagreement. Reports indicate that Womack accidentally bumped into Richburg while getting off the bus but did not apologize, leading to a heated argument between the two.
As the confrontation escalated, Womack returned to the bus, and Richburg pulled out a gun, fatally shooting Womack. After the shooting, Womack was rushed to a hospital but sadly did not survive.
Richburg fled the scene but was later arrested on December 9, 2024, without any resistance. His sentencing is set for November.
Womack’s mother, Tamika Johnson, expressed relief after the conviction, stating it brought her family a sense of closure. The case has drawn attention to the growing concerns regarding gun violence and illegal firearms in Baltimore, a point emphasized by State’s Attorney Ivan Bates, who condemned the senseless act of violence.
This case serves as a somber reminder of the severe consequences of confrontations and the importance of addressing gun violence in the community.
