The Gilded Age Season 3 Finale Review
The third season of The Gilded Age concluded with plenty of suspense, leaving viewers eager for more. Created by Julian Fellowes, this period drama has once again focused on the challenges faced by the Russell family.
In the finale titled “My Mind Is Made Up,” the drama picks up right after a shocking moment from the previous episode, where George Russell, played by Morgan Spector, is attacked. Thankfully, he survives with the help of Dr. William Kirkland, but the event sets off a chain reaction that affects his wife Bertha and their children, Larry and Gladys.
As the family unites around George’s recovery, they must confront the consequences of their recent decisions. Bertha, portrayed by Carrie Coon, deals with the repercussions of a costly marriage arrangement for Gladys with the Duke of Buckingham, as well as various rumors circulating about their household.
Despite tensions in their marriage and relationships with their kids, Bertha decides to hold a grand ball to show a strong family front. However, George expresses his dissatisfaction with their life, leading him to return to New York City alone.
Larry, who is beginning to carve out his role in the family business, has a heartfelt chat with Marian about their future together. Meanwhile, Gladys gains confidence, defying expectations, and surprises the family with news of her pregnancy.
Show producers highlight the evolving nature of George and Bertha’s marriage, stressing that even strong relationships can face trials. Coon reflected on Bertha’s drive to support her daughter while struggling to understand George’s concerns for his family.
This season also showcased the challenges Marian faces as she contemplates her place in society—whether to pursue her passions or conform to traditional expectations of marriage. The connection between her and Larry has grown, leaving fans to wonder about their future.
As the season wraps up, the Russell family finds themselves at a crossroads, with new challenges on the horizon. Fans can look forward to seeing how these relationships evolve in the already-confirmed fourth season.
