Mother Charged After Son’s Body is Found in Kentucky

A tragic story has unfolded in Breathitt County, Kentucky, where a mother has been charged following the discovery of her 10-year-old son’s body in a shallow grave. Jayden Spicer was reported missing, sending the local community into a frantic search.

Jayden’s remains were located in a heavily wooded area on a Tuesday afternoon, just six days after he was last seen. His mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, has now been arrested and faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and falsely reporting an incident, according to Kentucky State Police.

In a disturbing twist, Gross had earlier made a public plea for help, appealing to the community to assist in locating her son. Authorities, however, suspect that by the time she issued her heartfelt message, she was already aware of the boy’s fate. This revelation has cast a shadow over her initial claims, leading to further questions about her involvement.

The handwritten note Gross shared with the media read, “We love Jayden and we want him safe at home. Please, if anybody sees my son Jayden Spicer, report it to the Jackson Police Department.” She expressed desperation and a desire for the community to rally around, urging them to pray for his safe return.

Following the report of Jayden’s disappearance, police were informed that he had gone to bed the night of August 5th and was missing by the next morning. This information prompted extensive searches in the area around their home, with local volunteers and law enforcement working tirelessly to find the young boy.

As days passed, the search took a tragic turn. Police received a new tip that led them to the location where Jayden’s body was ultimately found. The situation has deeply affected the local community, which had rallied together in hope and concern for the young boy’s safety.

The remains have been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for examination, seeking to uncover the details surrounding his untimely death. At this point, investigators have not released any further information as they continue their inquiry into the circumstances leading up to this heartbreaking event.

Felicia Gross is currently being held at the Kentucky River Regional Jail and has a prior conviction for endangering the welfare of a minor, having served one year in jail for those charges. The discovery of her son’s body has raised new alarms about her past and the well-being of children in potentially vulnerable situations.

As the community mourns the loss of a young life, it raises essential conversations about child safety, parental responsibilities, and the importance of vigilance within neighborhoods. In times like these, it is crucial for communities to come together and ensure that children are protected, loved, and cared for in every possible way.

The investigation into Jayden Spicer’s death continues, with authorities committed to uncovering the truth. The case serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of watching over our children and providing them with the safe, nurturing environment they deserve.
