A 17-year-old boy is being hailed for his heroic actions after rescuing his 5-year-old autistic, nonverbal sister from a Florida lake. The Pasco Sheriff’s Office responded to Lake Lisa Park on Monday afternoon after the child went missing, but it was the teen who had already sprung into action to save her.

    What Happened

On Monday afternoon, deputies were called to Lake Lisa Park in Pasco County, Florida, to search for a missing 5-year-old girl who was autistic and nonverbal. After arriving at the scene, deputies found that the girl’s 17-year-old brother had already entered the lake in an attempt to locate her.

The teen successfully reached his sister and helped her to a branch in the water. Both siblings were eventually rescued safely from the lake by law enforcement.

    Praise for the Teen’s Courage

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office commended the 17-year-old for his bravery, calling his actions courageous and quick-thinking. In a statement shared on social media, the department expressed its admiration for the teen’s determination in such a critical moment.

    Missing Persons Calls a Priority

The sheriff’s office also noted that missing persons calls are among the most common types of calls they receive, and these cases are treated with the highest priority. The swift response and teamwork between the deputies and the teen ultimately led to a successful and safe resolution.

The story highlights the bond between siblings and the importance of quick action in emergency situations. The 17-year-old’s efforts ensured that his sister was safely returned home.
