New York Attorney General Faces Ethics Complaint
A group that watches how well people in power do their jobs is raising concerns about New York Attorney General Letitia James. The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) has filed a complaint, saying James may have acted wrongly when she got a mortgage for a property in Virginia.
The group says James might have broken the rules lawyers must follow in New York. These rules are about being honest and trustworthy. CASA believes the Attorney Grievance Committee should look into whether James did anything wrong with her mortgage.
This comes after a judge threw out charges against James, saying the person who brought the charges wasn’t qualified. The White House says the Department of Justice will fight this decision, arguing that the lawyer was properly appointed.
The charges against James claimed she gave false information to get a loan for the property. She says she didn’t do anything wrong and that she corrected a mistake she made on a form.
