Grand Haven, Mich. — A quiet Sunday evening turned tragic when 25-year-old Deavieon White lost his life after being struck by multiple vehicles while riding his bicycle in Grand Haven Township. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed White’s identity and the details of the crash as investigators continue to piece together what happened.

Just after 6:10 p.m. on December 14, deputies responded to the area of Mercury Drive near Lake Avenue following reports of a serious collision. White was riding his bike northwest on Mercury Drive when he was first struck by a car traveling the same direction.

Witnesses and investigators say the impact threw White from his bicycle and into the path of two other vehicles. One of those drivers remained at the scene, but another vehicle fled before officers arrived.

Emergency responders rushed White to a Muskegon-area hospital after the crash, but he later died from his injuries. The sudden loss has shaken the Grand Haven community, where friends and neighbors remember him as a familiar face on local streets.

The driver of the first vehicle that hit White was identified as a 62-year-old man from Grand Haven. The second vehicle involved in the collision has also been located and the driver is cooperating with authorities.

Sheriff’s deputies are urging the public to help identify the third vehicle that hit White and left the scene. Witnesses described it as a light-colored or white SUV with a female passenger, believed to be between 50 and 60 years old. Anyone with information about this vehicle or its driver is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s office

The loss of Deavieon White has left a community mourning and searching for answers. As the investigation continues, authorities stress the importance of coming forward with any details that could help shed light on the final moments of his life.

If you saw anything related to this crash or have information about the hit-and-run driver, please call (616) 738-4000 or submit an anonymous tip through Silent Observer.
