HOUSTON — The search continues for the driver responsible for the tragic death of Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Deputy Kenneth Lewis, who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident last month while helping a stranded motorist. The FBI has now joined the Houston Police Department in the investigation, offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the identification and capture of the driver.

The fatal accident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on a Saturday morning on I-10 near Eldridge Parkway in Houston. Deputy Lewis had pulled over to assist a motorist when a passing vehicle struck him. The driver fled the scene, leaving Deputy Lewis critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office shared a heartfelt tribute to Deputy Lewis, calling him a true example of dedication and selflessness in law enforcement. “Deputy Lewis demonstrated the very best of law enforcement. His selflessness, dedication, and commitment to serving others reflect the core values of our office and the profession he proudly served,” the department stated on social media.

As authorities work tirelessly to track down the responsible driver, they are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Houston by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or using their online tip form.

The community, law enforcement, and Deputy Lewis’s family continue to seek justice for his untimely death, and the search for the individual who left him behind remains a top priority.
