PALATKA, Fla. – After an intense search spanning several states, 16-year-old Madison Fields, who had been missing since February from Colerain Township, Ohio, has been safely located in Palatka, Florida. The Cincinnati chapter of the FBI confirmed the news, offering relief to her family and community after weeks of uncertainty.
The investigation gained momentum when authorities identified a person of interest in Tennessee linked to Fields’ disappearance. The FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team was quickly dispatched to the suspect’s home, only to find that he had already left. However, law enforcement didn’t stop there—they traced the suspect to a hotel in Florida, where they located Fields.
A collaborative effort between the FBI and local police led to the discovery of the suspect’s vehicle in a parking lot in Palatka. Shortly after, Fields was found safe inside a hotel.
Family friend Alicia Brabant expressed immense relief upon hearing the news. “To know that she was found alive, considering the circumstances, is just such a huge relief. This whole situation is extremely scary, and to know she’s okay and will be making her way back home is truly a blessing,” she said. Brabant emphasized the importance of the community’s role in helping to bring Fields home. “She had a village and an army around her, and she probably didn’t even know it.”
The suspect is now in custody, and law enforcement is continuing to process the case. As Madison Fields prepares to return home, her family and the community are left with a sense of gratitude for the swift resolution of a harrowing ordeal.
