An AMBER Alert has been issued for two young children, 2-year-old Dereck Rodriguez and 10-year-old Jaden Hernandez, after authorities say they were abducted from a foster home in the Westlake District of Los Angeles, California, early on August 21, 2025.

    What Happened

The two boys were taken from their foster home on South Virgil Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 21. Police believe their biological mother, 30-year-old Jackeline Hernandez-Torres, who has no legal custody, was waiting nearby and fled with the children shortly after their foster parents heard the door open. Despite their attempts, they were unable to prevent the abduction.

    Who Is Jackeline Hernandez-Torres

Jackeline Hernandez-Torres is considered a suspect in the abduction of her two sons. Authorities believe she may be heading toward a residence in South Los Angeles. She is believed to be driving a black 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser with an Indiana license plate, DFT105.

    Background or Timeline

Dereck and Jaden are both critically missing, and due to their young ages and status as foster youth, there is grave concern for their safety. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the children and their abductor.

    Public or Social Media Reaction

Authorities are urging anyone who sees the vehicle or has information about the whereabouts of the children or their mother to call 911 immediately. Social media platforms have shared the AMBER Alert to help spread awareness and gather tips from the public.

Official Statement or What Happens Next

The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing to search for the children and their abductor. Investigators ask anyone with information to come forward and assist in the search to ensure the children’s safe return.

This story may be updated with more information as it becomes available.
