Washington — The U.S. Department of Agriculture told a federal court that it will tap into a contingency fund to allow states to issue partial November benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program during the government shutdown. Kimberly-Clark on Monday said it is buying Tylenol maker Kenvue in a cash and stock deal worth about $48.7 billion, combining the Huggies manufacturer with the owner of Aveeno and Band-Aid. Kenvue shareholders will receive $3.50 per share in cash and 0.14625 Kimberly-Clark shares for each Kenvue share held at closing. A 23-year-old New York man was killed when the semi-truck he was driving went off the side of Wolf Creek Pass on Monday, according to Colorado State Patrol. The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 160 in Mineral County, a CSP spokesman said. Denver Labor claimed it closed 859 cases at the end of last month, collecting a record $2,310,009.82 in restitution. According to the city auditor’s office, Denver Labor helped a record 7,200 workers receive money owed for unpaid wages. Denver Labor enforces city laws involving wage theft and works to make sure wage requirements for city contracts are upheld. The department said it investigates 100% of the wage complaints received. Human remains discovered in Lochbuie in September have been identified as those of a Colorado woman who’d been missing since 2018, according to Lochbuie police and the Weld County Coroner’s Office. Terri Ackerman was reported missing by her husband in August 2018 after he returned to their Lochbuie home and her belongings were there, but she wasn’t. She was 56 at the time she was reported missing.
