KANE COUNTY – An Aurora man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl who was intoxicated and unable to consent, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. What we know: Between Jan. 1, 2024 and Oct. 31, 2024, prosecutors said 27-year-old Adolfo U. Garcia used Snapchat to connect with the victim who told him she was 16 years old. CHICAGO – Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson gave a news conference last week where he condemned President Donald Trump’s crackdown on crime. WAUKEGAN, Ill. – A trial begins Monday morning for a former Waukegan police officer charged in the 2020 shooting death of Marcellis Stinnette, a 19-year-old who was killed during a traffic stop confrontation. What we know: Former officer Dante Salinas was indicted on charges of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and official misconduct. CHICAGO – A man was shot and seriously wounded early Monday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side. What we know: Around 12:45 a.m., officers found the 31-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds in the 100 block of South Springfield Avenue, according to police. CHICAGO – A man was shot early Monday when a gun went off during a domestic dispute in the Gresham neighborhood, Chicago police said. CHICAGO – Chicago Police are warning of recent criminal sexual abuse incidents by an offender on an electric scooter in the Harrison neighborhood. What we know: In the incidents, the offender approaches female victims while riding a Lime green and white electric scooter and gropes them. The offender then flees the scene on scooter.
