BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – A crash in north suburban Buffalo Grove left a teenage motorcyclist dead on Friday evening. The crash, involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck, occurred around 5:40 p.m. along Buffalo Grove Road at University Drive, according to the Buffalo Grove Police Department. CHICAGO – A licensed gun holder fatally shot a man who tried to break into an apartment on the city’s West Side early Saturday morning. The incident happened in the 3400 block of W. Monroe Street in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department. What we know: A 33-year-old man was trying to break into the apartment a little before 7 a.m. Multiple people were inside the apartment at the time, and a 28-year-old woman shot the suspect, hitting him twice. CHICAGO – A rear-end crash on the city’s Near West Side killed a driver early Saturday morning. The crash happened in the 2600 block of W. Warren Boulevard, according to the Chicago Police Department. What we know: A black Dodge SUV slammed into a gray Hyundai sedan that was stopped facing east on Warren Boulevard. The 30-year-old driver of the sedan had multiple injuries and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he died. The driver of the Dodge was taken into custody. Charges are pending, police said. CHICAGO – A police chase of a carjacked vehicle on the city’s West Side early Saturday morning led to a crash with a police car and multiple injuries. The crash happened near the intersection of Madison Street and Pulaski Road in the Garfield Park neighborhood, according to the Illinois State Police. RAYMOND, Miss. – Mississippi Delta Community College (MDCC) is grieving the sudden loss of freshman offensive lineman Emanuell Cooks, 18, who died Thursday night following a football game against Hinds Community College. Cooks, a native of Elba, Alabama, collapsed after the matchup and was given immediate medical attention by emergency personnel. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
