CHICAGO – A Chicago man was charged with the murder of a 26-year-old man in McKinley Park, according to Chicago Police. What we know: Aaron Zawadzki, 21, of Chicago, was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder and one felony count of possession of a controlled substance. Zawadzki was arrested on Wednesday in the 5500 block of S. Hamlin Avenue. He was identified as the suspect who fatally shot a 26-year-old man in the 3500 block of S. Archer Avenue on Sept. 7. Zawadzki’s next court appearance is scheduled for Saturday.

CHICAGO – A man sitting in an SUV was struck and killed Friday afternoon when another driver crashed into his vehicle on Chicago’s West Side, police said. What we know: The crash happened about 1:55 p.m. in the 900 block of South Sacramento Boulevard. Police said a 42-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet was heading south when she struck the Nissan SUV, where the man was sitting. CHICAGO – A man has been charged after robbing an armored truck driver on Wednesday in Chicago’s Loop, according to authorities. What we know: According to a criminal complaint filed on Friday, Dajon Harris, 23, of Evergreen Park, robbed a Brinks armored truck driver on Wednesday in the first block of S. State Street. The driver had exited a store carrying bags of cash when Harris allegedly approached him and tried to take a bag of cash. A struggle ensued and Harris punched the driver, stealing a bag. CHICAGO – Two men were caught stealing boxes of vodka from a cargo container in a Chicago railyard, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. What we know: Around 8 a.m. Aug. 27, railroad staff alerted sheriff’s police that two men slipped under a fence near 63rd Street and Michigan Avenue, broke into a shipping container, took three boxes of Tito’s vodka and left. VERNON HILLS, Ill. – An arrest has been made in connection to a complex scam that cost an elderly Vernon Hills resident $27,000, according to police. What we know: On Aug. 8, the victim reported the scam, claiming that she delivered money on two separate occasions to people claiming to be federal government agents. It all started in July when the victim received a fake email indicating there had been an unauthorized withdrawal from her bank account.
