American businesses could be owed tens of billions of dollars in refunds for tariffs they paid on foreign goods. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has collected more than $200 billion in tariff revenue from American businesses of all sizes from October through August 24, according to agency data. Of that, more than $70 billion comes from payments of country-based tariffs that a federal appeals court recently ruled President Trump lacked the authority to impose. Emergency services at a hospital in Northern Colorado will soon end. Staff at McKee Medical Center have been notified that the emergency room department at the Loveland hospital will be closed later this year. The hospital’s owner, Banner Health, told CBS News Colorado this decision comes as they have seen a drop in patients each year for the last four years. Banner announced they will stop offering emergency services at McKee effective Nov. 5, 2025. They say only 25% of McKee’s hospital beds were being used. Colorado regulators have approved initial guidelines for Xcel Energy to significantly expand the state’s power grid — a move that could cost ratepayers billions of dollars in the coming years. On Aug. 27, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved a plan allowing for the potential addition of more than 6,000 megawatts of new energy generation. A suspect was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attacked a police photo enforcement vehicle in Northern Colorado, injuring the technician inside. The Greeley Police Department said Dillan Roker threw a 10 pound rock through the window of the vehicle, which was doing speed enforcement near a school zone in the 2000 block of 16th Street. They say the technician inside suffered minor injuries, and the rock did approximately $2,600 worth of damage to the vehicle. Roker reportedly ran away, but was captured soon after. Gov. Jared Polis says Coloradans are paying more now due to President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. The governor says tariffs are impacting groceries, health care, school supplies and more. Earlier this week, Trump defended the tariffs. “If you took away tariffs, we could end up being a third world country,” Trump said. On Thursday, Polis shared a report that estimates the impact on Colorado of changing federal tariffs.
