An Indiana high school secretary is facing charges after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage student.
Alicia Hughes, of Union City, is charged with five counts of child seduction and is being held in the Randolph County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond, Union City Police said in a statement on social media.
Hughes first came to the attention of Union City Police after she was allegedly battered when her husband caught her with an 18-year-old student.
Eventually, police allege they uncovered evidence that Hughes had been in a sexual relationship with a separate student, who was only 17. The pair allegedly had sex at least five times, police said.
It was not immediately clear if Hughes had retained an attorney or entered a plea.
Hughes worked as a high school secretary for the Randolph East School Corporation, police said in the statement.
Superintendent Neal Adams said Hughes has been “removed from all duties with students pending the outcome of the legal process” and the district is cooperating with law enforcement.
