At about 1:19 a.m. Wednesday, a devastating two-vehicle collision in the West Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati ended with the tragic death of a driver — identified by some sources as Awfwhite Xking Jett. The crash happened at 4029 West 8th Street, where a 2010 Ford Escape traveling eastbound struck a 2012 Acura TL that was headed southbound through the intersection at Rosemont Avenue.

Responding officers from the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) described the scene as brutal — both vehicles suffered heavy damage from the impact. First responders arrived swiftly, but the driver of the Acura, later identified as Jett, died at the scene from catastrophic injuries.

The driver of the Ford Escape — believed to be the striking vehicle — fled on foot immediately after the crash, leaving behind a passenger who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. As of now, the fleeing driver’s identity and whereabouts remain unknown.

According to the CPD traffic unit, speed and possible impairment are being investigated as contributing factors in the deadly collision. It is also not yet clear whether either driver was wearing a seatbelt — a detail that could become important as evidence is reviewed.

As morning light broke over West Price Hill, the gravity of the loss quickly rippled through the community. Friends, neighbors, and local residents are reeling — shaken by the suddenness of Jett’s death and frustrated by the fact that the person responsible remains at large. Calls for justice and accountability are growing by the hour.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen or heard something — no matter how small — to come forward. CPD has asked witnesses to call their Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514 as they piece together the final moments before the crash.

Until the person who fled the scene is found, and the full circumstances are clear, the community remains in mourning — seeking closure, answers, and the hope that this tragedy might yet lead to justice.
