Brandi Glanville has revealed what caused her facial disfigurement.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 53, shared her “shocking” diagnosis to TMZ on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Talking about her breast implants, Glanville explained, “Mine had completely ruptured, and I had silicone all over my lymph nodes.”
“That’s what caused the infection in my face; it couldn’t get out as my lymph nodes were all clogged,” she added. The reality TV made the discovery after struggling with facial disfigurement caused by the parasite. Glanville told TMZ that she finally got some answers after checking “everything else” and seeing “21 doctors.”
“I was shocked, because they’re implants that I’ve had for almost 20 years, they looked fine, they felt fine, the mammogram said they were fine, it wasn’t until I had a sonogram,” she added. “You really should change your breast implants every ten years, and I just didn’t do it,” added Glanville, who told the outlet that her implants were removed “just recently.”
“I thought, if it’s not broke dont fix it, but I learnt a really, really hard lesson,” she said. “We’re taking care of the face now that we finally figured out what was wrong,” the star added, noting that she wasn’t going under the knife again, rather treating her face with “lasers and different things.”
“It just sucks to age 20 years overnight,” she said with a laugh. As for her recovery, Glanville told TMZ that she feels “great,” and isn’t heeding her doctor’s advice to rest. “I can’t rest, I’ve been at home for three years,” she said.
Despite her experience, the reality TV star said she wouldn’t tell other people not to have breast impants but she’d encourage them to “stay on top of” maintaining them. “You have to be vigilant,” she added. “Just keep on checking, even if they look good and feel good.”
The star’s two-year-long health struggle has left her hospitalized and housebound.
She previously said that she believed her health issues, which began in July 2023, were caused by something she ate while filming the Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip in Morocco.
Glanville later claimed that she could see and feel the unknown “parasite” moving within her face, saying it resembled “tiny bubbles bursting” on her skin.
Amid her search for answers, Glanville also consulted Botched star Dr. Terry Dubrow, who suggested that, if not a parasite, her struggles could be caused by a foreign body.
