COVINGTON, Tenn. — The Covington community is in shock and deep sorrow after the tragic death of 28-year-old mother of three, Jonesha Robinson, whose life was cut short in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 30. What began as a normal morning on Price Street turned into a nightmare that has left her family and neighbors devastated.

Shortly after 6:30 a.m., Covington police officers responded to a call at a home in the 700 block of Price Street, where they discovered Jonesha unconscious and unclothed in the backyard. She had suffered serious trauma to her head. Emergency responders worked to save her life, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, she later died from her injuries.

Jonesha wasn’t just a victim in a news report. She was a loving mom whose entire world revolved around her three children. Friends and family remember her as someone who gave everything for her kids — the first to wake up in the morning, the last to say goodnight, and the heart of her household. The pain of losing a parent so young is almost impossible to measure, and her children now face a future shadowed by her absence.

The investigation moved quickly. Detectives from the Covington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division reviewed witness accounts and surveillance video from the neighborhood. Early findings led them to 33-year-old Aireiz Montel Macklin, who lived at the residence where Jonesha was found. Macklin was interviewed by detectives and is reported to have admitted to an altercation with the victim before her death.

Macklin was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic assault, second-degree murder, and tampering with evidence. Court records show he was already on state probation for a prior felony harassment charge when the fatal incident occurred. He remains in custody at the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office Jail with bond set at $1,000,000, and is awaiting his next court appearance.

Investigators say they worked closely with the District Attorney’s Office and the medical examiner’s office to piece together the events leading up to Jonesha’s death. The Tipton County Medical Examiner pronounced her deceased at the hospital, and her body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center in Memphis for autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

As the community reels from this loss, families and friends are holding onto their memories of Jonesha — the laughter, the hugs, and the everyday moments that made her a beloved daughter, aunt, sister, and friend. Local leaders and neighbors continue to offer support, urging anyone facing domestic violence to seek help and reminding everyone that resources are available.

Her death is a stark reminder of the human cost of violence and the fragile beauty of life. Jonesha Robinson’s name will be spoken at dinner tables, in church halls, and in quiet moments of remembrance by those who loved her most. Her children may be young, but the love she gave them will stay with them forever.
