DAVENPORT, Iowa — A night out turned tragic early Friday morning when a shooting outside the Chill Vibez Lounge on Myrtle Street claimed the lives of two men and left another injured. Davenport Police have launched a homicide investigation into the incident, which occurred around 1:45 a.m.

First responders arriving at the scene found one man with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, he was transported to a local hospital where he later passed away. In the midst of this unfolding tragedy, authorities learned that a second man had also been taken to the hospital by private vehicle, having sustained his own gunshot injuries. He too, sadly, did not survive.

The deceased has been identified as Dane Howard. The heartbreaking loss has sent ripples of grief through the community, with prayers extended to the Bateman and Howard families. A third individual, also struck by gunfire, sustained a non-life-threatening injury. He received treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further care.

Early indications from investigators suggest this wasn’t a random act of violence. Instead, preliminary findings point towards a physical altercation that unfortunately spiraled out of control. Detectives are currently working diligently, meticulously processing evidence and interviewing potential witnesses to piece together the events of that fateful morning.

The Davenport Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could assist their investigation. Anyone with details is encouraged to reach out directly to investigators at 563-326-6125. For those who prefer to remain anonymous, tips can also be submitted through QC Crime Stoppers.

While Dane Howard has been identified, the names of the other victims will be released once all necessary family notifications are complete and further investigative steps have been taken. The community now grapples with the somber reality of this violent incident, hoping for swift answers and a path toward healing. The investigation remains ongoing.
