De Soto, MO — The community of De Soto is in mourning following the tragic death of 65-year-old Kent Allen Rinearman, who passed away in a devastating mobile home fire early on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Located south of Hillsboro, the fire has left family, friends, and neighbors in shock, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a man who was beloved by all who knew him.

    What Happened

Kent Rinearman tragically lost his life in a mobile home fire at his residence on Castle Ranch Road, in the 11700 block, around 2:25 a.m. on November 25, 2025. The fire quickly engulfed the home, and despite the heroic efforts of firefighters from multiple districts—Hillsboro Fire, De Soto Fire Department, De Soto Rural, Antonia, and Hematite fire districts—the blaze proved too intense. Emergency responders from Valle Ambulance and Jefferson County 911 Dispatch were also on the scene, working diligently to contain the fire.

Firefighters arrived at 2:36 a.m. to find the mobile home completely consumed by flames. They entered the burning structure, but tragically, Kent was found in a bedroom and could not be rescued. The fire was brought under control approximately 30 minutes later, but the mobile home was lost in the process. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported, and it appears Kent was the sole resident of the home.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of Kent’s death, with support from the Missouri State Fire Marshal and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. While foul play is not suspected, the official cause of the fire is still under review.
