COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Fifteen-year-old Deandre Willis was more than a child in his parents’ eyes: he was a bright, hopeful teenager on the edge of becoming someone great. On Saturday night, that possibility was stolen — shot down in cold blood at the Manchester Ridge Apartments on Godby Road.

According to family members, Deandre’s mother says she believes her son was deliberately set up — that the killing may have ties to local gang activity. She fears witnesses at the scene refused to call 911 for hours, and that before the police even arrived, his body had already been moved. That, she argues, points to an intentional attempt to hide evidence and protect those responsible.

On Monday evening, friends and relatives gathered at Cleveland Avenue Park for a candlelight vigil. His father spoke softly, choking back grief and frustration, calling out the silence of witnesses and the still unanswered questions that haunt the family. There is pain. There is anger. And above all, there is a desperate need for truth.

As of Tuesday night, officials from College Park Police Department had not publicly released any details about the shooting. No suspect has been named, and no motive confirmed. The silence has only deepened the family’s fear that justice may be slipping away.

The family has issued an emotional plea: if you know anything — anything at all — come forward. Call 404-577-TIPS or use the anonymous submission at the tip line of Crime Stoppers Atlanta. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to justice for Deandre.

Deandre’s life was just beginning. Those who loved him say he had dreams, friends, family who adored him. Now, they say, those dreams lie in the dark — and they’re asking the community to help bring the light back.

For now, the vigil continues, and the questions remain. Who saw — and who stayed silent? Who moved the body — and why? Deandre didn’t get to grow up. But maybe now, someone will speak up, and give his family the answers they deserve.
