Early Monday morning, the heart of the Granville County community shattered when 38-year-old Michael P. Henn Jr. lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Brogden Road, near the intersection with Hester Road. Authorities report the wreck occurred around 12:39 a.m., though later updates placed it closer to 1:00 a.m. on October 27, 2025.

According to the report from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Michael’s vehicle veered off the roadway, entered a roadside ditch and he was ejected from the car—ending up some 200 feet from the wreckage. Despite immediate efforts from emergency responders, Michael was pronounced dead at the scene.

News of Michael’s passing came after the Granville County Sheriff’s Office made sure his family had been notified, as confirmed by Sheriff Robert D. Fountain Jr.. The offices extended their deepest condolences to his loved ones, reflecting a soft-spoken grief that rippled through the county.

Those who knew Michael say his warm heart and loyal spirit lit up any room he entered. He wasn’t just a presence; he was somebody who was counted on—a friend, maybe a confidant, someone people leaned on. The void his absence leaves is already being felt in homes, at work, in quiet moments of memory and remembrance.

As investigators continue to review the crash scene and the factors that led to such a devastating outcome, local officials took the moment to remind everyone of the fragility of early-morning driving. For Michael’s community, this is no longer just a news item—it’s a cautionary tale about life’s unpredictability and the importance of vigilance on the road.

In the hours and days ahead, friends and neighbors are gathering in memory of Michael—sharing stories, looking at pictures, remembering his laughter and kindness. While the details are still emerging, what stands clear is that Granville County is coming together, united by shock, sorrow, and the shared duty of remembering him well.

Michael’s family, friends, and all who crossed his path will carry forward not only the weight of this loss but also the light he brought into their lives—his kindness, his loyalty, his presence. As grief settles in, so too does gratitude for the time they had with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
