BOONE COUNTY, Ky. — The family of 9-year-old Jenny Dim, who was found dead in a pond near her Florence home on Saturday evening, has released a heartfelt statement expressing their gratitude for the support received from the community during the search for their missing daughter.
Jenny was reported missing for more than 24 hours before her body was discovered by search teams at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The discovery followed an intense, multi-agency search effort that spanned two square miles on the ground, seven to eight miles by air through drones and a Kentucky State Police helicopter, and additional ground coverage by law enforcement K-9s.
Jenny’s aunt, Julie Par, shared the family’s grief and appreciation in a post on social media Sunday morning. “Although our hearts are deeply broken by this loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jenny has finally found peace and rest in our Heavenly Father’s arms,” Par wrote. “We hold onto our faith and trust that she is now safe, at peace, and surrounded by God’s love.”
The family expressed deep gratitude for the dedication and hard work of all law enforcement and rescue teams who helped in the search efforts, including the Kentucky State Police, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, and the Hamilton County LandSAR Team. “We are truly thankful for each and every one of you,” Par wrote, also thanking the community for their support, particularly those who volunteered to search from dawn until dusk.
In the message, Par acknowledged the overwhelming kindness from others, including those who offered meals and support. The family is in the process of setting up a GoFundMe page to assist with expenses, though they expressed that donations were not expected.
“We can never repay you, but we pray that God blesses each and every one of you,” Par said, deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support.
Though the family had hoped for a different outcome, they expressed their trust in God’s plan. They also thanked everyone who offered prayers and messages of comfort during this difficult time.
As investigations into Jenny’s death continue, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information to contact the non-emergency line at 859-371-1234.
