In the early hours of Sunday morning, a high-speed collision on Mt. View Road near Asheford Trace in Nashville left four teenagers dead and a fifth seriously injured. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the crash happened around 12:45 a.m., when a southbound Infiniti G37 driven by 17-year-old Kerlos Toma of Murfreesboro veered partially into the northbound lane and slammed head-on into a northbound Jeep Renegade.
The passengers in the Infiniti included 19-year-old Maximos Ibrahim and 17-year-old Raafat Nassif, both from Nashville, and 19-year-old David Fakhory of Nolensville. According to MNPD, Ibrahim and Nassif died at the scene; Fakhory was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and later succumbed to his injuries. Shortly after being admitted with life-threatening injuries, the driver Toma also died.
The Jeep’s driver — a 24-year-old — was taken to Vanderbilt with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. Investigators at the scene noted that none of the occupants in either vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
Crucially, MNPD traffic investigators determined that the Infiniti had intruded into the oncoming lane, likely at a high speed, when the collision occurred. Witnesses described the southbound G37 speeding before impact.
As word of the tragedy spread, two closely-knit Middle Tennessee communities — Nashville and Murfreesboro — were shaken. Friends and family of the teens are left grappling with sudden and unimaginable loss, while police said a full investigation remains underway to determine whether driver behavior, speed, or other factors contributed to the fatal crash.
MNPD stressed that the investigation will include vehicle positions, possible mechanical issues, and traffic patterns leading into the crash zone. While official charges have not yet been announced, the office of the District Attorney’s Office is expected to become involved as the inquiry progresses.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life on the road—especially for young drivers and passengers—and the importance of safety measures like seatbelt use. As two families mourn in quiet grief, the broader community in Middle Tennessee is left to reflect on what happened and how similar tragedies might be prevented.
