Ongoing Search for Suspected Montana Shooter

Authorities are still searching for Michael Paul Brown, the man accused of fatally shooting four people at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, Montana, on August 1. According to law enforcement, Brown is considered “armed and extremely dangerous.”

In a recent briefing, officials stated that as of late August 1, Brown had not been apprehended. They did find the Ford F-150 he drove away in, but he was not inside the vehicle or nearby. The hunt for Brown is now concentrated in the mountainous area near Stumptown Road, just west of Anaconda.

Residents have been urged to stay indoors and remain vigilant. They have been advised not to approach Brown if they see him, as there have been no further reports of him harming anyone else.

“This community is small and close-knit, and the actions of one individual do not define us,” emphasized Lee Johnson from the Montana Department of Justice.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. at The Owl Bar. It resulted in the tragic deaths of a bartender and three patrons, and it has deeply affected the tight community.

The Montana Department of Justice confirmed that the search for Brown includes cooperation from various local, state, and federal agencies. Brown, a veteran who served in Iraq and the Montana National Guard, is reported to have struggled with serious mental health issues.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is closely monitoring the situation in Anaconda as the community grapples with the aftermath of the violence.
