Aid to Gaza Increases as Ceasefire Takes Hold

Cairo – Efforts are underway to increase the amount of aid reaching the Gaza Strip, following a newly established ceasefire. Many hope this agreement will mark the end of a long period of conflict.

COGAT, the Israeli defense body responsible for humanitarian aid in Gaza, has announced plans to significantly increase the number of aid trucks entering Gaza daily. The goal is to reach approximately 600 trucks per day, as outlined in the ceasefire agreement.

Egypt has stated its intention to send 400 aid trucks into Gaza. These trucks will undergo inspection by Israeli forces before being permitted to enter.

Supplies include medical equipment, tents, blankets, food, and fuel.

The Kerem Shalom crossing will serve as the inspection point for the trucks by Israeli troops. In recent months, the United Nations and other organizations have struggled to deliver sufficient aid due to ongoing fighting, border closures, and restrictions.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an organization backed by Israel and the U.S. and intended to ensure aid reaches those in need, faces an uncertain future.

Meanwhile, preparations are also in progress for the release of hostages held in Gaza and Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.

Families of hostages have been told to prepare for the release of their loved ones. Hospitals and facilities are being prepared to receive the released individuals.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Israel, to meet with families of hostages and address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Trump is then scheduled to travel to Egypt to participate in a peace summit with regional and international leaders.

The release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel is also anticipated under the agreement.

As the ceasefire takes effect, Palestinians are returning to areas previously affected by conflict.
Armed police have been seen in Gaza City, maintaining order and securing aid deliveries.

The conflict began with an attack on southern Israel, resulting in casualties and the taking of hostages.

Israel’s subsequent actions have led to a significant number of Palestinian casualties and widespread displacement within Gaza.

Looking ahead, key issues remain unresolved, including the future governance of Gaza.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that he has instructed the military to prepare to dismantle the tunnel network built by Hamas under Gaza, utilizing an international mechanism under U.S. supervision, once the hostages are released.
