Greenville County woke to heartbreak after authorities confirmed the violent death of 23-year-old Trycina Whitehurst inside a quiet neighborhood home. The attack happened in the early hours of the morning and unfolded fast, leaving behind shock, unanswered questions, and a family now facing an unthinkable loss.

According to investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after midnight to a home in the 700 block of West Parker Road following a frantic 911 call reporting an assault. When they arrived, they found Whitehurst suffering from severe and visible injuries. Emergency responders tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office later confirmed her identity and said an autopsy is pending. The results are expected to determine the exact cause and manner of death, details investigators say are critical to fully understanding what happened inside the home during those final moments.

Authorities believe the suspect fled the residence before deputies arrived. A search was quickly launched across the surrounding area, but it did not lead to an arrest. The suspect is described as a Black male, last seen wearing camouflage pants and a black jacket. As of now, he remains at large.

Investigators have said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. They also confirmed that Whitehurst and the suspect knew each other, though officials have not shared the nature of their relationship. That connection is now a key focus of the investigation.

Neighbors along West Parker Road described the area as usually calm, the kind of place where sirens are rare and nights are quiet. By morning, the flashing lights were gone, but the weight of what happened lingered. For many, it was a painful reminder of how quickly violence can shatter ordinary life.

Law enforcement continues to follow leads and is asking anyone with information to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. Tips from the public, investigators say, could be the missing piece needed to track down the suspect and bring accountability.

As the investigation continues, Trycina Whitehurst is being remembered by those who knew her as a young woman whose life ended far too soon. While authorities work toward answers, her death has left a deep wound in the community, one marked by grief, silence, and a shared hope that justice will come.
