Cris Collinsworth, a well-known sports commentator, made a lighthearted remark about the current government situation during a recent football game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders.

As the game transitioned between the third and fourth quarters, the broadcast showed a view of the U.S. Capitol building. Collinsworth, known for his time as a Cincinnati Bengals player and now an NBC broadcaster, quipped, “There’s a calm place,” which prompted laughter from his broadcast partner, Mike Tirico.

The Seahawks dominated the game, winning 38-14 against the Commanders. A significant factor in their victory was the performance of their quarterback, Sam Darnold. Darnold started the game strong, completing his first 17 passes without a miss. He ended the game with an impressive 21 completions out of 24 attempts, accumulating 330 passing yards. He threw four touchdown passes in the first half alone, with two going to Tory Horton and one each to Cody White and Elijah Arroyo. The Seahawks scored 28 points in the first half. However, Darnold did throw an interception in the second half.

Adding to the Seahawks’ score, tight end A.J. Barner contributed with a rushing touchdown. Jaxson Smith-Njiba was the leading receiver for Seattle, catching eight passes for 129 yards.

On the Commanders’ side, quarterback Jayden Daniels had a tough game. He completed 16 of 22 passes for 153 yards but suffered an arm injury that forced him to leave the game early. Before his exit, Daniels did manage to score a rushing touchdown, and running back Chris Rodriguez also added one.

With this win, the Seahawks improved their season record to 5-2, while the Commanders fell to 3-5.

Collinsworth’s comment during the game alluded to the ongoing discussions surrounding the government.
