According to Matt Moore, Deputy Coroner for Colbert County, Guarcas-Cua was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene, even though he was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation by the Littleville Police Department as they look into possible causes like road conditions, speed, or mechanical failure.
Then, in the early hours of Sunday morning just outside the Muscle Shoals city limits, a second tragedy struck. Just after 2 a.m., a 21-year-old woman from Tuscumbia was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Second Street. Medics say she was critically injured and later pronounced dead at the scene; her name has not yet been released out of respect while her family is notified. The investigation is being handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division.
In a somber address, Deputy Coroner Matt Moore described the back-to-back fatalities as “devastating for the entire Shoals area,” adding that both victims were young and had promising futures ahead.
