Jax Affolter Chisago City, MN Death and Obituary – The community of Chisago City, Minnesota, is grieving the devastating loss of 15-year-old Jax Affolter, a beloved student and hockey player, who tragically died in a car accident early Saturday morning, October 25, 2025. The collision, which occurred just before 2 a.m., also claimed the life of another teenager and left three others seriously injured. The heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through the close-knit community, especially among local youth and members of the Chisago Lakes Hockey Association, where Affolter was a cherished teammate.

According to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash took place at the intersection of Stacy Trail and Ivywood Trail in Chisago City. Investigators reported that a 2014 Toyota Camry, driven by a 14-year-old boy, was traveling with two passengers — Jax Affolter, 15, and another 15-year-old. The Camry collided head-on with a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner driven by a 17-year-old male, who also had an 18-year-old passenger.

When emergency responders arrived, they found extensive damage to both vehicles. Affolter was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old driver of the 4-Runner later died at the hospital. The 14-year-old driver, the second 15-year-old passenger, and the 18-year-old passenger all sustained serious injuries and were transported to nearby trauma centers for emergency treatment.

Police confirmed that alcohol was found at the crash site and indicated it may have been a contributing factor in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

The Chisago Lakes Hockey Association released a heartfelt statement on social media mourning Affolter’s passing. Described as a dedicated athlete with an infectious enthusiasm for the sport, Jax was remembered for his positive spirit, work ethic, and kindness both on and off the ice.

In a touching tribute, members of the local hockey community placed hockey sticks outside their doors and left porch lights on in his honor — a symbolic gesture often used to show solidarity and remembrance within the hockey world. The emotional display reflected the deep connection and support shared among players, families, and fans across Minnesota’s vibrant youth hockey network.

To support the grieving family, friends and neighbors organized a Meal Train to provide meals and comfort during this unimaginable time. Separate memorials were held for both teenagers who lost their lives, giving friends, classmates, and teammates the opportunity to come together in mourning and reflection.

Jax Affolter’s sudden passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him. As the investigation continues, the tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of impaired driving and the fragility of life. The Chisago City community will remember Jax not only for his love of hockey but for the joy and light he brought to everyone around him.
