A woman has been given a prison sentence for trying to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Sophie Roske, who is 29 years old, will spend eight years and one month in prison. A judge made this decision on Friday. Roske had admitted to trying to murder Kavanaugh back in June 2022.

Prosecutors wanted Roske to be in prison for 30 years. They are not happy with the judge’s decision and plan to ask for a longer sentence. One of the Attorney General said that the sentence was not good enough.

Roske was 26 years old when she was arrested near Kavanaugh’s house.

Before she tried to hurt Kavanaugh, Roske called 911. She told the person on the phone that she needed help with her mental health and that she was planning to hurt Kavanaugh and herself.

In court, Roske told Kavanaugh and his family that she was very sorry for the trouble she had caused them.

She also said she was sorry for making judges feel scared while they do their jobs.

Roske said that what she did was selfish and wrong. She also said that she has been seen as a bad person, and that this mistake will affect her for the rest of her life.

Roske also said that she should have known how bad her mental health was at the time of the crime.

However, the lawyer for the Department of Justice said that Roske had planned the attack. She said that Roske had bought weapons several times and had looked up information about killers online.

The lawyer said that Roske’s main goal was to kill Kavanaugh, not to hurt herself.

Roske’s lawyers had said that she had mental health problems and had been in mental health facilities before.
