“Terminator” Star Linda Hamilton Stands Against Hollywood’s Youth Obsession
Linda Hamilton, the actress known for her role in “The Terminator,” is speaking out against Hollywood’s focus on youth. At 69, she’s embracing aging and encouraging others to do the same.
In a recent interview, Hamilton explained that she doesn’t try to look younger. She sees her face as a reflection of her life and the experiences she’s had. “I have just completely surrendered to the fact that this is the face that I’ve earned,” Hamilton said.
She emphasizes the importance of living in the moment and not chasing unrealistic beauty standards. While she believes in staying healthy, she also allows herself to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, like a jelly donut.
Hamilton also stresses the importance of staying flexible, both physically and mentally, as we age. She believes that being too rigid can hold us back and prevent us from enjoying life.
Hamilton became famous for playing Sarah Connor in “The Terminator.” She returned for “Terminator 2,” transforming her character into an action hero. Even at 62, she reprised her role in “Terminator: Dark Fate,” undergoing intense training to play the part.
Currently, Hamilton is acting in “Stranger Things.” She says that decades of stunt work have taken a toll on her body, requiring her to undergo physical therapy.
Hamilton also shared some of the advantages of getting older. “I fully inhabit myself in a way that I never did when I was younger,” she said. “I’m not trying to please anyone or prove anything or show off.”
She is also enjoying being a grandmother for the first time, finding a “stunning connection” with her grandchild.
Hamilton believes in finding a balance between work and life, and she values her community and friendships. She also shared that her daughter once told her that her face is beautiful because it is “filled with joy,” a definition of beauty that Hamilton has embraced ever since.
