The incident occurred at 11:16 p.m. on the southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway (I-405) just south of La Tijera Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The victim, later identified on Monday as Kinna Robin, was walking in the freeway’s southbound direction when she was struck by a white Kia Soul crossover vehicle. The LA County Medical Examiner confirmed that Robin sustained multiple injuries and that the crash resulted in her death.
Following the collision, the CHP issued a SigAlert at 11:39 p.m., closing the southbound lanes to investigate. Traffic was diverted off-ramp onto La Cienega/Manchester Boulevards while the scene was processed. The closure remained in place until roughly 2:30 a.m. Monday, when the lanes were reopened.
At this time, investigators are still examining the circumstances that led to the collision. No immediate information was released about whether the pedestrian was attempting to cross the freeway, exiting a vehicle, or otherwise. The driver of the Kia Soul was not identified in initial reports.
