PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A quiet lunch‑hour at MGM National Harbor turned into tragedy Wednesday, as a gunman opened fire in the casino’s food‑court. One man was killed, another suffered a graze wound — and the shooter fled before police arrived.

Police were dispatched around 11:55 a.m. to reports of gunfire. On arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim who was dead at the scene. A second adult male had been struck by what appeared to be a grazing bullet; his injury was not life-threatening and he was treated on site or at a nearby medical facility.

Investigators say the shooting appears targeted, not random — but they have yet to establish a motive or identify a suspect. According to initial police statements, the assailant approached the first victim in the food court and opened fire, then fled the casino in a vehicle.

At this time, the names of the victims remain undisclosed, and no description of the suspect has been released. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, as the investigation remains active.

Officials emphasized that the rest of the casino remained open — the gunfire seemed confined to the food‑court area.

The chaos shocked patrons drawn to the normally bustling complex. For employees and visitors alike, a midday break turned into a scene of grief and urgency — a reminder that even well‑traveled spaces are not immune to sudden violence.

As of now, investigators with the Prince George’s County Police Department continue canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, and seeking tips from the public. The search for answers — and for justice — is underway.
