In a quiet stretch southeast of Marbury, Alabama, neighbors were stunned early Friday evening when tragedy struck: 55‑year‑old Daniel F. Weather died after his car veered off Autauga County Road 131 and overturned into a ditch. Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed the crash and said Weather was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, first responders arrived shortly after a call reporting a vehicle off the road. There were no other vehicles involved, and no immediate witnesses to explain what caused Weather’s truck to leave the roadway. Investigators are now working to piece together exactly what happened — from road conditions and visibility to the condition of the vehicle itself.

Troopers say they are carefully examining the ditch where the vehicle landed, as well as lighting along that portion of County Road 131. They’re assessing whether road maintenance, signage, or environmental factors played a part, and whether any mechanical issues contributed. The investigation is ongoing.

According to WAKA Action 8 News, Weather was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. That detail is being considered by authorities as they work to understand how a routine drive turned fatal.

The news has shaken the small Marbury community, where people tend to know each other and look out for one another. While little is publicly known about Weather’s personal life, locals are already coming together in grief. Friends, neighbors, and church groups are offering condolences and supporting his loved ones in this sudden, heartbreaking moment.

For now, ALEA hasn’t released any definitive cause, but has pledged to give updates as the investigation progresses. The hope is that by thoroughly examining every factor, they not only bring some answers to Daniel Weather’s family but also help prevent other crashes in rural areas like Autauga County.

As the community reflects on his life and loss, Marbury stands united in sorrow — and in the promise to honor his memory by looking out for one another on the road.
