A 40‑year-old woman from Camden, South Carolina — identified as Miranda Lynn Rose — lost her life Wednesday afternoon when her car was struck on the side and flipped during what authorities are calling a major collision on Highway 601.

Rose was driving southbound on Highway 601 when emergency dispatch received a 911 call about a multi‑vehicle crash at approximately 12:28 p.m. When first responders arrived, they found that another vehicle had struck Rose’s car on the side, causing it to overturn. The force of the impact ejected Rose, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) along with the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office — led by Coroner David West — have launched a full investigation into the crash. Officials say they are examining factors such as roadway conditions, traffic flow, weather, and the positions of the vehicles involved.

So far, authorities have not released the identity of the driver of the other vehicle involved. It remains unclear whether any charges will be filed.

This stretch of Highway 601 is a well‑traveled route — serving commuters and commercial traffic alike — which underscores just how quickly tragedy can strike when vehicles collide at speed. It’s a reminder of how fleeting safety can be on the roads, especially on busy corridors like this one.

News of Rose’s death has hit the local community hard. Friends, neighbors, and residents have expressed sorrow, sharing condolences and acknowledging the shock of losing someone so unexpectedly. Many have reflected on how a routine drive can turn into heartbreak in a matter of moments.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward. They stress that even small details — a sighting, a license plate description, or dash‑cam footage — could help shed light on what happened. In the meantime, traffic‑safety advocates and members of the community are calling on drivers to stay alert, slow down, and treat every journey with caution.

The family of Miranda Lynn Rose remains in the thoughts of many in Camden and beyond as they mourn a life cut far too short.
