With the news still sinking in, the close-knit community of Immokalee has been shaken by the tragic death of 35-year-old Chris Martinez, a son, brother, friend and neighbor who so many relied upon for kindness and cheer. Late on Friday, October 31, 2025, at a home on Monroe Court, authorities say Chris lost his life in a shooting that stunned the town.

According to local reports and public postings from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Monroe Court scene after gunfire was reported. Chris was found with gunshot wounds and, despite the prompt arrival of first responders, he tragically did not survive. The investigation is still active as detectives work to determine how and why this happened.

In the days since, his memory has inspired an outpouring of affection and grief. Chris was widely known for his warm laugh, steadfast support of friends and family, and his readiness to help anyone who needed it. To many in Immokalee, he wasn’t just another face — he was family. His passing has left a hole in hearts across the neighborhood.

The community has responded with vigils, candle-light gatherings and heartfelt messages across social media, each honoring a man who brought comfort and brightness into others’ lives. Neighbors have shared stories of times Chris went out of his way to help, to listen, to laugh, reminding one another that his legacy is rooted in connection and generosity.

His family, grappling with immense sorrow, has expressed gratitude for the support from the community and announced that memorial service details will be shared soon, so that everyone who felt touched by Chris’s presence can gather and pay tribute. In this time of grief, they are holding onto the thread of his kindness as a source of strength.

Though his life was cut far too short, the warmth and compassion Chris offered to so many remain alive in stories, memories, and the community he helped build. He will be forever loved, forever remembered.

If you wish to support the Martinez family, please look out for the upcoming announcements regarding contributions, service times and ways to honor Chris’s memory.
