Patrick (Paddy) Lavery Death and Obituary – The community of Derry, Northern Ireland, is mourning the loss of Patrick “Paddy” Lavery, who passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Paddy’s death has left an immense void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Paddy’s life was one marked by deep love, unwavering dedication, and a quiet strength that touched many lives.

Paddy was the beloved husband of Anne, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and mutual respect. Their marriage stood as a testament to loyalty and devotion, weathering the joys and challenges of life together. As a loving father of five, Paddy’s greatest pride was his family. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his children, guiding them with wisdom, patience, and a strong moral compass. To his grandchildren, he was more than just a grandparent—he was a storyteller, a source of warmth, and a constant source of encouragement.

A much-loved brother, Paddy shared a close bond with his siblings, creating a lifetime of shared memories filled with laughter, mutual support, and family traditions. Those who knew him speak warmly of his generosity, his ability to listen without judgment, and his gentle humor that could lift spirits even in difficult times.

Paddy’s passing is not only a profound loss to his immediate family but also to the wider community of Derry. Known for his friendly nature and willingness to lend a helping hand, he built lasting connections throughout the years. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or steadfast friendship, Paddy embodied the values of compassion and neighborliness that are cherished within the local community.

His funeral was scheduled to take place on August 13, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Steelstown. This final farewell is expected to be a deeply moving occasion, bringing together family, friends, and neighbors to honor his life and legacy. In keeping with his family’s wishes, only family flowers were requested. Donations in lieu, if desired, will be directed to the Foyle Hospice, an organization whose work reflects the care and compassion Paddy valued deeply.

The choice to support the Foyle Hospice in Paddy’s memory is a fitting tribute, underscoring his lifelong spirit of giving and his empathy for others in need. The hospice, well-regarded for its dedication to providing comfort and dignity to patients and their families, will now receive support in his name, extending his legacy of kindness beyond his lifetime.

Though Paddy Lavery may no longer be present in the physical sense, his influence will live on through the countless lives he touched. His memory will be kept alive in the stories shared by his children and grandchildren, in the bonds he nurtured among his friends, and in the love that continues to surround his family. His was a life defined by love, service, and quiet strength—a life that will be remembered and cherished always.

    May he rest in peace.
