Pop Star and Former Politicos Dine Together in Japan
Katy Perry, the singer known for hits like “California Girls,” recently enjoyed a lunch in Japan with Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada, and Fumio Kishida, who previously served as Prime Minister of Japan.
Kishida, who held office from 2021 to 2024, expressed his appreciation for Trudeau’s visit and for continuing their friendship even after both have left their respective political roles.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us,” Kishida shared on social media. He also noted that during his time as Prime Minister, he and Trudeau worked together to strengthen relations between their countries.
Trudeau and Perry made their first public appearance as a couple in Paris.
Perry was seen wearing a green outfit, while Trudeau wore a grey suit.
This meeting comes after Trudeau’s split from his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023. Grégoire has spoken about dealing with the attention surrounding her ex-husband’s new relationship, saying that while it affects her emotionally, she chooses to focus on the positive.
Perry recently ended her engagement to Orlando Bloom, after a decade. They share a daughter named Daisy.
