RALEIGH, N.C. — An early Sunday morning shooting in Raleigh’s busy Glenwood South district sent people running for safety as gunfire broke out just before 3 a.m., according to the Raleigh Police Department.

The incident happened near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Jones Street. When officers arrived, they found one victim at the scene and transported them to a nearby hospital. A second victim later walked into a hospital on their own, also suffering from a gunshot wound connected to the same incident.

Police say both victims are expected to survive.

CBS 17 cameras captured investigators inspecting a vehicle riddled with bullet holes, which authorities believe is tied to the shooting.

A witness who was nearby described the chaotic moments as shots rang out.

“We were sitting at DeMo’s when we heard about 11 or 12 shots,” he said. “People started running inside seeking shelter. Moments later, police cars rushed down the street.”

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still active.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to identify who was responsible for the gunfire.
