According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), Marcano was heading downhill near milepost 9 when his motorcycle began to slide out of control. Witnesses said the machine flipped over, and Marcano was thrown from his ride and landed on the roadway. Emergency crews responded swiftly, but Marcano was pronounced dead at the scene. The PCSD noted he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved.
