Thunder Bay, Ontario — The tight‑knit real estate community here is grieving the loss of Sandy Herron, a well‑known and deeply respected local realtor who passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2026, while in Florida. Her sudden death has left colleagues, clients and friends remembering her warmth, compassion and steadfast commitment to helping others.

Sandy was 61 years old, born on November 17, 1964, and raised in Thunder Bay. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings Donna, Jimmy and Andrew, and always proudly said, “I’m from Westfort, Ontario.” Her early years in the community shaped her genuine and approachable nature that so many admired.

After graduating from Westgate High School in 1982, Sandy explored a few different jobs but never felt truly fulfilled until she discovered real estate. A chance suggestion from a coworker led her to take a course that helped her find her calling. At 25 she bravely left her desk job and stepped into real estate, a field she grew to love and excel in.

Sandy quickly became one of Thunder Bay’s top real estate professionals. Known for her deep market knowledge and honest advice, she helped countless families through some of life’s most important transitions. Her positive energy and genuine care turned many clients into close friends.

In 2005, Sandy met Frank, the love of her life. They shared a life filled with adventure, laughter and simple joys, building memories together through travel and companionship. By 2019, they eased into semi‑retirement, spending their last seven winters together at their home in Florida.

Friends and clients remember Sandy not just for her professional excellence, but for her human touch. She had a way of making people feel seen and understood, guiding them with patience and empathy through what can be stressful moments in buying or selling a home. These qualities made her not just a trusted realtor, but a cherished part of many families’ lives.

Sandy is survived by her loving partner, Frank, her mother Shirley and her siblings Donna, Jimmy and Andrew. She was predeceased by her father James and her grandparents. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be announced later as family and friends gather to honor her memory and the lasting impact she had on their lives.

Her passing has left a quiet void in Thunder Bay — a place she served with heart, skill and an unwavering belief that real estate is first and foremost about people finding a sense of home.
