FLORENCE, Ky. — A search that captivated the community has tragically ended with the discovery of 9-year-old Jenny Dim’s body. Kentucky State Police confirmed late on March 14 that the young girl, who had been missing since Friday evening, was found deceased.
Jenny, who was diagnosed with autism, was last seen around 5 p.m. on March 10 near MacIntosh Lane in Florence. Authorities quickly launched a widespread search, involving local law enforcement, search and rescue teams, and volunteers. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office had organized an extensive search that covered two square miles by foot and seven to eight miles by air using drones and helicopters. K-9 units also aided in the search, covering several miles of ground in hopes of finding the missing girl.
Despite the relentless efforts of first responders and volunteers, the outcome was not what the community had hoped for. Kentucky State Police issued a statement expressing their sorrow, thanking everyone involved in the search. “Tragically, this is not the outcome we had hoped for. We thank all the first responders, the public, and the media for all their effort during this investigation,” the statement said.
