A man has been identified as the person who died in a shooting at a country club in New Hampshire.
The shooting happened on September 20th at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua. Police say that Hunter Nadeau, 23, shot and killed Robert Steven DeCesare, who was 59 years old. Two other adults were also hurt in the shooting. Nadeau is now in police custody.
Nadeau is being charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting Mr. DeCesare with a gun. Officials say that more charges could be filed later, including charges related to the other people who were shot.
Police have stated that there is no known connection between Mr. DeCesare and Mr. Nadeau.
Reports say that Mr. Nadeau used to work at the Sky Meadow Country Club for about a year. The type of work he did there is not known.
Mr. DeCesare was from Salem, New Hampshire. He was eating dinner with his wife and daughter when the shooting started. His mother said that the family was getting ready to celebrate his daughter’s wedding in just a few weeks.
According to reports, when the shooter came into the country club and shot another person, Mr. DeCesare stepped in front of the gunman to protect his family.
His mother said that Mr. DeCesare acted on instinct to protect his family. She said he was facing the shooter and not trying to run away. She added that his family escaped after he was shot.
The shooting took place near a restaurant where a wedding celebration was happening. Many people were dancing when they heard the gunshots and started running to get away.
Mr. Nadeau is expected to appear in court.
The police are still looking into the shooting. They are asking anyone who has information about what happened to call the Nashua Police Department.
