Port Clinton, OH – It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Tracy Alan Colston, a cherished son, spouse, father, grandfather, and a foundational figure in the Port Clinton community. Tracy passed away on November 13, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic at the age of 64, leaving a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Life of Dedication to Family, Community, and Sports

Born on August 15, 1961, in Port Clinton, Ohio, Tracy was the son of Calvin and Judy (Havener) Colston. Raised with the values of diligence, honesty, and resilience, Tracy’s life was shaped by a strong sense of community and a love for sports. He was a standout athlete at Port Clinton High School, where his exceptional basketball skills earned him a place in the PCHS Athletic Hall of Fame. As a member of the 1,000-point club and the record holder for the most points in a single game, Tracy’s love for basketball was more than just a personal passion—it was a way for him to inspire others and bring the community together.

After completing his education at Port Clinton High, Tracy continued his basketball career at Capital University, where he further honed his athletic abilities. His time as an athlete was not only marked by individual achievements but also by the way he used sports to teach discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

A Life of Service to His Community

After his college years, Tracy returned to Port Clinton, where he worked alongside his father at Port Clinton Lumber. However, Tracy’s dedication to his hometown extended far beyond his career. He became a vital part of the community, passionately mentoring youth basketball players, leading the Port Clinton Youth Baseball program, and contributing to the PC Athletic Boosters as vice president. He also played an instrumental role in organizing the Elks’ yearly Hoop-Shoot, further cementing his place as a beloved figure in the local sports scene.

Tracy’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open The Fanatic, a sporting goods store in Fremont, Ohio, which he ran for ten years. Throughout his career, Tracy never stopped coaching—whether it was leading his sons’ sports teams or guiding the youth of Port Clinton toward a bright future in athletics.

Tracy’s commitment to public service was evident in his roles as the Parks and Recreation Director and Safety Service Director for Port Clinton. Over 21 years, under the leadership of five different mayors, Tracy worked tirelessly to improve the city, ensuring it thrived as a welcoming, collaborative, and safe community.

    A Loving Family Man

Above all, Tracy’s greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband to Terri Colston for 35 years and a loving father to Derek and Cory. Tracy also cherished his role as a grandfather to Adelyn, Brooks, and Evelyn, with whom he shared a home filled with laughter, love, and sporting activities. His devotion to his family was the heart of his life, and they will forever carry the memories of his kindness, strength, and love.

A Legacy of Unity and Inspiration

Tracy Alan Colston’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication, compassion, and service. He was more than just a sportsman, a business owner, or a public official—he was the essence of Port Clinton. His influence on his family, the community, and the youth he mentored is immeasurable. The spirit of collaboration, unity, and generosity that he fostered will live on in the lives of those he touched.

Though his departure leaves a significant void, his impact will continue to resonate within Port Clinton, ensuring that his contributions to the community, his family, and the world of sports will never be forgotten.

    A Final Tribute

Tracy’s family, friends, and community members are left to mourn the loss of a man who was more than a figure of authority; he was a constant source of inspiration, encouragement, and love. As the community says goodbye to Tracy, they do so with gratitude for his legacy and the knowledge that his life made a lasting difference.

May Tracy Alan Colston rest in eternal peace, knowing that his love, service, and legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all those who had the privilege to know him. He will be remembered, cherished, and respected always.

Funeral arrangements and memorial services will be announced by the family.
