A tight-knit community is reeling after a 14-year-old student from Twinsburg High School, identified as London Brown, was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in a wooded area near Ravenna Road. The incident shook not only her family but the entire town, where friends remember her as bright, beloved, and full of promise.

Authorities say police responded just before 1 p.m. to the 10800 block of Ravenna Road following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found London with a gunshot wound, and despite life-saving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:42 p.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.

In the wake of the tragedy, a 15-year-old boy from Twinsburg Township was taken into custody and charged with murder and tampering with evidence. He’s being held at the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center and is set to appear for a hearing soon. Multiple agencies are investigating, including the Twinsburg Police Department, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Valley Enforcement Group, and the local fire department.

Details from scanner traffic and official releases sketch a harrowing scene: first responders combed wooded terrain behind a fitness center and soccer fields near the interstate, deploying a K-9 unit and drones to find the victim. The area was difficult to access, and Twinsburg Fire Department reportedly used specialized rescue equipment to clear the way.

As news of London’s death spread, the community rallied around her family. In a heartfelt Facebook post, a member of the school board, Rhonda Crawford, described London as “bright and beloved” and called on everyone to wear black, her favorite color, to school on Tuesday in her honor. A GoFundMe has also been set up to support her grieving family.

Twinsburg City School District has made counseling available for students and staff, recognizing that the loss of London will be deeply felt across classrooms and hallways. Police, meanwhile, emphasized that the investigation is ongoing but that there is no threat to the broader public.

For now, London’s family has asked for privacy during this heartbreaking period. Her death is already sparking conversations about youth violence, support systems, and how a community heals after losing one of its own.
